About the Artist
Zindzi Reed
Transforming movement and stillness into art that inspires balance, connection, and the beauty of being
Zindzi Reed (b. 1990: Brooklyn, NY) is a visual artist who explores the transformative power of self-discovery by celebrating the human body and its relationship with nature. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hunter College, her artistic career began in Georgia creating portraits and collages in 2018.
In 2020, Zindzi’s artistic journey gained significant momentum with her acceptance into her first international exhibit at Zari Gallery in London for Black History Month. Then, her work was supported by the Judith Alexander Foundation with the Georgia Visual Artist grant and subsequent private commissions.
From 2021-2024, Zindzi immersed herself in the Costa Rican rainforest to embody the principles and practices of yoga, extending its philosophy beyond physical postures to encompass mindful awareness, ethical conduct, and the cultivation of inner peace. This profound experience significantly impacted her artistic vision, leading to a renewed focus on capturing the human form with charcoal and paint to explore the interplay of movement, stillness, and ever-changing environments.
Most recently, Zindzi exhibited her work at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition. She's currently based in the New York metropolitan area where she uses her work as a vehicle to promote unconditional self-love by fostering a sense of home within ourselves.
